about
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Barry developed a fascination with all things film early in life. As a kid, he commandeered the family Hi8 camcorder and made awful movies using his family as cast and crew. The filmmaking bug never left, and after receiving a BFA in Media Arts from the University of Arizona, Barry attended UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television for graduate film school, where he earned his MFA in Film & Television Directing.
His first gig out of school was as a co-editor for the History Channel's feature-length documentary "Star Trek: Beyond the Final Frontier." He quickly moved into the world of music videos and entertainment television in Los Angeles, and honed his skills directing and editing cinematic content for clients such as MTV, MTV2, Universal Music Group (Interscope, DefJam, Island, etc.), The Disney Channel, Pantene, and Audi, among many others.
After relocating to Chicago in 2012, Barry began working as a freelance writer, director, and editor of commercials, eventually landing on the director roster at IMX Studios. At IMX Studios, Barry writes, produces, and directs a wide array of broadcast and digital commercial work for clients such as Sears, Kmart, Craftsman, Kenmore, DieHard, Timberland, Black + Decker, and numerous others.
